I could list out all the reasons why I love Yoto, but then this wouldn’t be much of a journal post it would be a full-on love letter.
Because honestly? It’s rare to come across something that feels this thoughtful. Beautifully designed, yes but more than that, it just gets it. Storytelling. Imagination. Independence. Calm. All wrapped up in something that children genuinely love to use.
And it’s not just me. This little audio player (which is really so much more than that) has picked up more awards than we could sensibly list. But accolades aside, the real question is why does it actually matter in everyday life?
So, what makes Yoto so special?
At its simplest, Yoto opens up a world of listening.
From classic stories that never go out of style, to music, learning content, and even a daily podcast designed just for children it’s a mix that grows with them. It’s the kind of thing they come back to again and again, discovering something new each time.
And crucially, they’re in control.
No swiping, no scrolling. Just choosing a card, popping it in, and pressing play.
Simple. Empowering. Calm.
The bit that really got me…
The feature that truly stopped me in my tracks is the ability to create your own cards.
You can record your own stories. Your own messages. Your own little moments.
And I couldn’t help but think.......where was this when B was little?
There was a time when I was travelling one week out of four, and my husband was doing the same. In those moments, when they’re too small for phone calls or FaceTimes, you just want to be there to read a bedtime story, to say goodnight yet the world clock makes that simply impossible, the oportunity to feel present somehow, wow what i would have done... well I did, I founded Binky.
Yoto makes that possible.
Imagine:
- A bedtime story recorded by Mum or Dad, played whenever they need it
- A grandparent reading their favourite book, even if they live miles away
- A little message for the morning, or something comforting at night
It’s such a simple idea, but it carries so much weight.
For families where loved ones aren’t always close by, it becomes more than just a feature it becomes a way to stay connected in a way that actually feels real.
Bedtime, but better
Bedtime can be… a moment.
Yoto softens it.
Children can choose their own story, settle in, and listen independently. It takes away that constant back-and-forth and replaces it with something calmer, more predictable, and dare I say it enjoyable.
And when that story is in a familiar voice?
It becomes part of their comfort.
Oh and it even has a time to get up function too, so kids know when it really is time to get up...
