At Binky, we believe great toys deserve long, happy lives.
Many of our product photoshoots take place in Glasgow, where we carefully style and photograph the toys, games and gifts that eventually find their way onto our website. Wherever possible, we reuse samples across multiple shoots, helping to reduce waste and make the most of every product.
However, from time to time, we find ourselves with toys that are no longer part of our collection. While many retailers might simply dispose of these samples, that has never felt right to us.
As a business built around conscious gifting, thoughtful consumption and buying better, not more, we believe every toy still has value. If a toy can continue to spark imagination, encourage learning or bring joy to a child, then it deserves another chance to do exactly that.
Over the years, we have made sure our photoshoot samples find new homes wherever possible. Previous donations have gone to nurseries, playgroups and community organisations, as well as supporting local charity events, school fetes and fundraising initiatives. We are always looking for ways to ensure these toys continue to be enjoyed rather than ending up in landfill.
That’s why we were delighted to donate several boxes of toys from previous Binky photoshoots to Make Do & Grow in Glasgow.
Make Do & Grow is an inspiring community initiative that combines a toy library with a re-use toy shop, helping families access quality toys through affordable, sustainable and inclusive play. Their team supports countless children through play, learning and discovery, ensuring great toys reach the children who need them most, particularly during challenging times.
Knowing that these toys will continue their journey through new families, new adventures and new imaginations is exactly why we do it.
If you’re local to Glasgow, we highly recommend paying them a visit. Their shop is full of wonderful finds, and we’re delighted that quite a few former Binky favourites are now sitting on their shelves, ready to begin their next chapter.
Because at Binky, we don’t just sell gifts; we help create the moments they are bought for. Extending the life of quality toys through donation, reuse and community partnerships is just one of the ways we strive to make play more sustainable for future generations.
